I know this is a bit of a generalisation, but living in Australia, a lot of people I know here are very grossed out by nature, human/animal anatomy, and food sources. For example:
In high school, during Year 8 science classes, we had to dissect a carp (could have been another vertebrate, but we already had a whole carp available), and about half the students left the room because they were too squeamish (the carp didn’t smell bad in case you were asking).
A common cause of going vegetarian in the Western World is seeing the conditions that meat animals live in. In my experience, non-Westerners aren’t put off by that at all.
Pro-death penalty Westerners (who are only a minority of Westerners) usually oppose public executions, and are very picky about which execution methods they support:
Considered acceptable by pro-death penalty Westerners
Considered unacceptable by pro-death penalty Westerners
I was recently watching this video: Turning a Pig into a Football | HTME Super Bowl Edition, and I noticed how many people are grossed out by the football. Personally, I find it hypocritical to be grossed out by pig skin if you are a meat eaters yourself.
